Updates have been a little sporadic because of this:

Project 365 - 04/03/2016

Nervertheless, here are some photos of my favourite parts of the Dreamworks Exhibition at Te Papa, which runs until March 28th 2016. There were just so many pieces of concept art, models, and maquettes that I was quite blown away and these few photos below really do not do the exhibition any justice. I had no idea that the exhibition would be so good!

When I arrived it was also quite late in the day so I had a limited amount of time to look around. That meant I had to skip what looked like a room full of Wacom Cintiqs, but there were so many other amazing items to look at it didn't matter!

Lifesize Toothless

I had no idea what the exhibition would be like, but I was hoping for a life-sized Toothless from 'How to Train Your Dragon'. Before you even get to the exhibition hall, the first thing you see just inside the museum entrance is a giant model of Toothless in flight!

Interactive Displays - Astrid and Hiccup

Dotted around the exhibit were various interactive displays that allowed you to experiment with different aspects of 3d animation software. Naturally I couldn't resist pushing these models of Hiccup of Astrid as far as I possibly could. They look like they're either sneezing or possessed...

'Dragon Flight A Dragon's Eye View of Berk'

One of my favourite parts of the exhibition was the simulated dragon flight in and around Berk. The movie is just a few minutes long, but as it is projected onto a curved screen it was quite an immersive experience!

I also attended a couple of talks from the day-long weekend workshop, and had a fantastic time! In the morning I went to a hands-on motion graphics workshop run by Dusk, and in the afternoon I attended a character design workshop by Tim Gibson.

The exhibition closes at the end of March, I definitely recommend a visit!
