I came across Project 365 last year and have decided to try it for myself in 2015. The idea is that you take at least photo every single day, and then post it online. Here are the first few photos of 2015!
New Year's Day at Island Bay
Just a quick post showing the results of my watercolour efforts in class today! Today's session was two hours long, and I just started adding water to one of the petals of the pansy at the end of the session.
The last couple of months have been a little crazy with the lead-up to the end of the year. I have been working hard to get everything sorted before the holidays!
As a result I haven't had much time to blog, but I have been continuing with painting classes at the The Secret Art Academy here in Wellington.
I am learning watercolour and am improving little by little. Here are some progress photos from my instagram account, I am starting out mostly with watercolour pencils.
This post is a little later than expected, but here are the results of my last painting class with notes! My teacher showed me how to mix the glazes at each stage as I am still learning how to mix colours. When she realised I was taking photos so I wouldn't forget the steps, she very kindly offered to lay out the tubes next to the palette for each photo!
We had a bit of a break in-between the first painting class and then unfortunately I had to miss the second one. I made up for it in the third class however, adding a blue glaze to my apple painting and the still life I started in the first class. I then painted over the still life in white as I had made it too dark in the first session. I also started a third little study of the pear in the still life group in a brown glaze on canvas.
Here are some photos of my progress with each painting - the sessions were four and a half hours long so there was time to get lots of painting done!
It was a bit nerve-wracking at first painting straight over the original glaze with white but I soon got the hang of it. Painting with oils is far more forgiving than I expected and each session has been very relaxing!
